LINCOLN - Clifton W. Cooke, Jr., 82, of Lincoln, died on Dec. 21, 2013 of cancer. Cliff was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Oct. 17, 1931.

He graduated from Norwood High School in 1949. Cliff later earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Ohio State University and a master's degree in engineering from the University of Delaware. While in Kentucky serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, Cliff met and married his wife of 59 years, Clara Ann Archer. They had three children, Julia Rose Cooke Hofer, Joyce Marie Cooke, and Clifton W. Cooke, III. Cliff retired from the du Pont Company for whom he had worked his entire career in 1985. While an employee of du Pont, Cliff received a U.S. patent. In 1985 Cliff and Clara moved to her childhood home, Lincoln, where he built their retirement home and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and tinkering with bulldozers and other large machinery.
Cliff is predeceased by his parents, Clifton W. Cooke, Sr. and Julia Curtis Cooke, sister, Fannie Caroline and brother, Henry Frank Cooke. He is survived by brothers, Hampton and Lee Cooke, his wife, Clara Ann Archer Cooke, children, Julia R. Cooke Hofer (David), Joyce M. Cooke, and Clifton W. Cooke, III (Francis). Cliff has three grandchildren: Andrea Suzanne Hofer Danby (Scott), Clifton Michael Cooke (Angie) and Lindsey Michele Cooke, and three great-grandchildren: F. Scott, Jr. and Nicholas Cole Danby, and Clifton Michael Cooke, Jr.
