BUCKSPORT - Alfred C. Eastman, 95, of Bucksport, died Nov. 25, 2013, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born July 22, 1918, in North Conway, N.H., son of Albion S. and Ruth (Thompson) Eastman.

Al graduated from schools in North Conway, N.H., and in 1940 from the General Electric Apprentice School in Lynn, Mass. He also attended Lowell Technical Engineering School at MIT. Al held various positions in the Aircraft Gas Turbine Division of the GE Company including Assistant Chief Inspector and Manager Quality Shop Engineering, leaving in 1955 to make his home in Bucksport. For a brief period he was self employed then was with Prudential Insurance and for 15 years for The Sperry and Hutchison Company from which he took early retirement in 1974. For a short time he was employed by the Bucksport School Department taking full retirement in 1980. Mr. Eastman was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, golfing and gardening.
Al is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte (Ingalls) Atherton Eastman of Bucksport; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Joseph Norton of Brunswick; son and daughter-in-law, Preston and Susan Eastman of Bucksport; daughter and son-in-law, Daryl and Ronald Martin of Charleston; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nine stepchildren; and many stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving first wife, Pauline (Wight) Eastman in September 1984; and three sisters, Alice Pierce, Margurite Armstrong, and Betty Biacco.
Family and friends will gather for services 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at North Bucksport United Methodist Church, River Road, North Bucksport, with Pastor Rose Krinke officiating.
