WALDO - Alexander Herbert Gallant Jr., 96, passed away Aug. 8, 2013, at home in Waldo. He was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Bangor, to Alexander Herbert Gallant Sr. and May (Lyons) Gallant. He was a World War II veteran who was well-known by his community as he loved to socialize.

Alexander was predeceased by his wife, Hazel E. Gallant of Belfast; and many siblings. He left behind two sons, Allen H. Gallant and Wayne Gallant, both of Waldo; and three grandchildren, Angela Anderson of Belfast, Desiree Estes of Ellsworth, and Heather Gallant of Belfast. He also had four great-grandchildren, William Chadwick of Liberty, Jeromy Chadwick of Troy, N.Y., Damion Benner of Belfast, and Alexandria Estes of Ellsworth; and many nieces and nephews that he left behind as well.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Oct. 8, at Paul Cemetery, Waldo. Immediately following will be a gathering at the Gazebo at Belfast City Park. The memories we have of him will never be forgotten. He was loved and will be greatly missed by many. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
